<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the side collision of an automobile generated due to inner-outer wheel difference by storing-discriminating signals from an obstruction sensor provided on the side face front or rear part of a body in such a way as to face the side of the body, and a steering angle sensor mounted to the body. CONSTITUTION:An obstruction sensor 2 is provided on the front left side face of a body, slightly above a left front wheel in such a way as to face the side of the body 1. The sensor 2 is to be a distance sensor with a beam open angle of 90 deg. or more in the horizontal direction. A steering angle sensor 3 is to be a rotary encoder attached to a steering wheel to detect its steering angle. A vehicle speed sensor 4 is to be a rotary encoder for measuring the rotation of rear wheels or the rotating speed of an axle equal to the rear wheel rotation. The minimum distance measured by the obstruction sensor 2 is stored in a controller 5 and judged being compared one after another with succeeding inner-outer wheel difference. When the sensor 2 is equal to or smaller than the succeeding inner-outer wheel difference, a side collision is generated, so that a collision alarm is sent out by the buzzer 6 of a collision avoiding means, and a brake actuator 7 is operated to reduce the speed of a vehicle or stop the vehicle.</p> |
