PURPOSE: To eliminate distortion at ridges of an image consisting of transmitted image signals as well as completely re-configuring the transmitted signals. CONSTITUTION: The sub band coding filter system is made up of a pair of matched linear phase FIR decimation filters 12, 16 and interpolation filters 14, 18. The decimation filters 12, 16 have a prescribed integral number tap coefficients and the number of taps of the interpolation filters 14, 18 is more than the number of taps of the decimation filters 12, 16. The tap coefficient of the matched interpolation filters is decided by solving a set of simultaneous equations produced from zero term of a half band filter formed by convolution of the decimation filters and the interpolation filters. |
