The present invention relates to a painter's easel designed to support the surface to be painted and particularly, but not exclusively, suited to painting with water colours. The easel according to the invention comprises [a board] (1) which receives the sheet to be painted. According to the invention the board has a smooth and water-impermeable surface which enables the sheet to be attached by wetting with water, the said easel being made up of a casing (3) of parallelepipedal shape and in which at least one of the large sides forms the board, the said casing being fitted with a drawer (4), the wall of which receives the paint pans (5), forms the mixing pallet and is fitted with compartments (7) for storing paintbrushes, tubes of paint and other accessories. <IMAGE>
