摘要 PURPOSE:To symmetrize the intensity distribution of the dye laser beam of a dye laser emitted light to the diameter direction of the laser beam as well as to contrive the improvement of the energy conversion efficiency of a dye laser and the improvement of the quality of the dye laser beam by a method wherein the dye laser beam is made to incide in the internal wall surface of a cell, in which a dye solution in encapsulated or is made to circulate, on the condition of a critical angle to the excitation light input wall surface of the internal wall surface. CONSTITUTION:When excitation light 2 is made to incide in an optically transparent cell 1, in which a dye solution 4 is encapsulated or is made to circulate, dyes in the solution 4 which is a laser medium absorb the light, dye molecules are excited and an excitation region 5 is formed. The optical axis of a dye laser beam 3 is set on the condition of a critical angle to an excitation light input wall surface 1a of the internal wall surface of the cell and the beam 3 is totally reflected on the internal wall surface of the cell 1. At this time, the beam 3 is made to pass through the region 5 and is amplified. The beam 3 is evenly amplified and a beam of a symmetrical intensity distribution can be obtained. The beam 3 is made to incide in the region 5 obliquely to the region 5, more excitation molecules can be utilized and the energy conversion efficiency of a dye laser is improved.
