In the material for the blanket of a papermaking machine or a drying or filter medium, at least part of the fibres are at least partially produced from a material which is soluble in a basic or acid nucleophile or electrophile, reductive or oxidative medium, resistant to the carrier material. The material has contact surfaces in the longitudinal direction of the fibres, to the other material, and lies partially on the outer surface of the fibres. The contact surface runs in cross section across the circumference of the fibres or has a serpentine path. The material forms at least one fibre mantle round the the fibre core insol. in the medium present or which dissolves in water.
