Light beacon with variable output beam characteristic - determined by annular light dispersal insert fitted within main part of cylindrical lens head

The light beam has a cylindrical lens (2) receiving the light provided by an internal light source and emitting it over the full circumference of the lens. An annular light dispersion insert (5) fits within the main part of the leans (2), for altering the beam characteristic. The outer contour of this insert (5) is complementary to the contour of the inside surface of the lens (2). Pref. the insert (5) has a number of concave cross-section channels (52) formed in its outer surface and is rigidly secured within the lens (2), or fitted in the latter so that it can be removed as required. USE/ADVANTAGE - Side lamp for marine vessel. Allows simple modification of output beam characteristic.
