Sealants and adhesives applied during the window fitting operations on cars are cured at least partly by a localised heating of the joints by microwave energy. The preferred procedure is an application of the microwave energy at opposite points so that the pane is fixed in its position. The remainder of the joints can be allowed to cure without any energy input, i.e. by the humidity present in the air.
