Rotary printing machine drive for aligned sheet transfer - has two small auxiliary gears which minimise backlash in derive gear train

Several printing units, each with a printing cylinder (5) and a transfer drum (6),form the rotary sheet printing machine. The cylinder (5) has a gear wheel mounted on its support shaft which meshes with the gear wheel on the transfer drum shaft.The backlash between the gears is reduced to a min. by two small gears (3,4). The two gears mesh with each other, whilst the gear (3) meshes with the printing cylinder gear and the gear (4) meshes with the transfer drum gear. The gear (4) is mounted on a fixed shaft, but the gear (3) is mounted on an arm which swings about the axis of the other gear and is pressed towards the printing cylinder. USE/ADVANTAGE - For maintaining a precise register of printed sheets,with reduced gear backlash and good gear support.
