The sensing pin or sensing pin combination connecting body is held against a bearing which positively determines its position by an electrically operated clamp mechanism. The clamping mechanism may consist of an electric motor with a self locking transmission which pulls the pin against the bearing. The transmission is in the form of a threaded spindle. An alternative clamp mechanism consists of a permanent magnet and an electromagnet whose field is superimposed upon that of the permanent magnet. The permanent magnet can be moved towards the bearing.
