Benzophenone azo dye compsns. - contg. biodegradable dispersant based on sulphonate and carboxylic acid

Dye compsns. comprise 20-60 wt.% of a benzophenone azo dye, 40-80 wt.% of a dispersant and 0-5 wt.% of other additives. The dye is of formula (I), where one of R1 and R2 is H and the other is OMe or OEt, or R1 = R2 = Me, and R3 = 1-4C alkyl. The dispersant is based on a lignosulphonate or an arylsulphonic acid/formaldehyde condensate and contains 3-50 wt.% of a component selected from aromatic or higher aliphatic carboxylic acids and their salts and anhydrides. Cpds. (I) are described in DE 2015172, DE 2157229 and EP 413229. The dispersants are described in EP 91109017. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsns. are useful for dyeing synthetic textile materials, esp. polyester or polyester/cotton, giving strong yellow shades with good light and thermofixation fastness. The dispersants are highly biodegradable.
