This invention provides the use of certain indenesulfonamide derivatives in the treatment of susceptible neoplasms in mammals. Also provided are certain novel indenesulfonamide derivatives of the formula <CHEM> wherein: A is <CHEM> R<1> is halo or hydrogen; and R<2> is halo or trifluoromethyl, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, and their pharmaceutical formulations.
