Container with a metal lid comprises a body with a flange and a lid with a peripheral edge portion that is seemed to the body's flange. In the mfr. of a container with a metal lid, the inner surface of a peripheral edge portion or a metal lid is coated with a heat sealing consisting of modified polyolefin, ionomer resin and/or an ethylene - acrylic acid copolymer, the metal lid is seamed to a flange of a can body made of plastic and the flange and the lid's peripheral portion are fused together by, e.g., high frequency, ultrasonic or steam heating.
