A connector assembly for connecting an electric wire to a printed circuit board has means indicating that the terminals of the wire have not been fully inserted. The assembly includes a housing body having a terminal accommodating chamber formed therein. In one example (figure 4c), an insulating cover (43) is hinged at one end on the housing body (11) and has an extension (46) forming a detecting projection so that, when a terminal (39) is not accommodated in the correct position in the terminal accommodating chamber, the terminal interferes with the detecting projection (46) of the cover to prevent pivotal motion of the cover to a predetermined position. Alternatively (figure 9), a terminal retainer (73) is slidable to place a projection (81) behind an inserted terminal, to prevent removal. An incorrectly inserted terminal interferes with the projection (81), to prevent retainer sliding. A cover (54) is then prevented from sliding into retainer grooves (75). Covers (43 and 54) expose a contact projection (38, 66) for mating with printed circuit tracks passing into a housing receiving cavity. <IMAGE>
