<p>PURPOSE: To provide a valve to occlude the orifice of a bubble generator whenever the pen is moved into a position, such as inverted, where the ink no longer covers the orifices, and also provide a method to occlude (seal) the orifice, regarding a valve unit used as a part of an inking system for an ink-jet pen and an orifice sealing system which is a part of the valve unit. CONSTITUTION: This valve unit comprises a liquid reservoir 24 which reserves ink 31, maintaining back pressure, and forms an orifices 54 sealed with the ink, a basin 34 which is coupled in the vicinity of the orifice, and sealing liquid 68 which seals the orifice in case failure occursin sealing with ink, when the liquid reservoir is out of upright position. The liquid is communicated between the reservoir and the basin through an orifice. Aeration between the basin and ambient air takes place through an interior passage 60 within a vent pipe 58 with one end provided in the basin and the other end provided outside the basin.</p> |
