PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as a substituted compound for Freon(R) reduced in by-product amount with a high yield by hydrogenating decafluoropentene in a liquid phase using Pd supported on barium sulfate as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Decafluoropentene-2 is reacted with hydrogen using palladium supported on barium sulfate as a catalyst in a liquid phase, preferably under pressure or ordinary pressure at 0-80 deg.C so as to carry out hydrogenation to provide the objective compound. Particle diameter of barium sulfate is preferably 0.1-100mm and the supporting concentration is preferably 0.5-5%. Furthermore, the reaction is preferably carried out without using solvent from the view point of separating the product.
