PURPOSE: To obtain a microporous ceramic membrane for separation of gas and liquid mixture having a specific micro pore size distribution and a specific effective pore size by using high temperature stable and chemically resistant metal oxides or metal carbonates. CONSTITUTION: A mesoporous Bioran (R)-glass capillary is kept rotating continuously during e-beam evaporation of quartz under 10<-4> to 10<-5> Torr. The obtained membrane is a continuous inorganic membrane supported by metal oxides such as silica or alumina and metal carbonates with high temperature stability and chemically resistance having micropores at least 90% of which have an effective micropore diameter of >=1.2 mm. This membrane separate mixture of liquids and gasses with high separation factor. |
