A paper guide unit and an image forming apparatus having the same are provided to adjust the height of a paper guide automatically according to the thickness of a paper, thereby preventing the paper from being crumpled during a fixing process. A guide plate(110) guides papers(P) entering the fixing nip(13) of a fixing unit(10) and varies a guide position according to a kind of a paper. An elastic member(120) supports elastically the guide plate to vary the position of the guide plate. The guide plate guides the front end of a normal paper to be in contact with the heating roller(11) of the fixing unit when a passing paper is normal, and is rotated by force received by the hardness of a thick paper when the passing paper is thick.
