PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a thin film excellent in adhesion property and weather resistance at low cost without decreasing optical characteristics by simple and easy means for film formation by applying a soln. of two or more compds. selected from metal alkoxide compds and metal acetylacetonate compds. and heating the coating film. CONSTITUTION:An oxide thin film having a micropit-like surface layer is formed on a glass substrate by the following process. This thin film is formed by applying a coating liquid and heating the coating film. The coating liquid is prepared by selecting two or more compds. from at least one kind of metal alkoxide compds. and metal acetylaceonate compds. in a manner that the selected compds. have different average mol.wts., and mixing these compds. in a solvent. This oxide thin film is widely useful as coating films for building material, automotive window material, various glass products, etc.
