摘要 PURPOSE:To make uniform the pressure distribution over a belt and reduce medium contamination by forming a runoff part in that position of any of the pulleys at least a one situated on the transport path side of the medium which mates with the two ends of the belt to perform separation and transport of the medium while contacting by pressure with the medium. CONSTITUTION:In a sheet feeding device, a belt 14 is set over a single drive pulley 11 and a plurality of follower pulleys 12, 13. The belt 14 is contacted by pressure with a medium, not illustrated, to be fed in the C direction on a transport path, and thereby separation and transport of media are performed. Therein the pulleys 11-13, at least the ones 11, 12 on the transport path side, are provided with a recessed runoff part 15 in the position mating with the two ends of the belt 14. The force likely concentrated on the belt ends is relieved through the action of the runoff part 15. This permits making uniform the pressure distribution when the belt 14 is contacted by pressure with the medium to be fed, which leads to reduction of medium contamination due to local pressure rise.
