STRUCTURE FOR CONNECTING OPTICAL FIBER BASE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To provide the structure for connecting a dummy bar which is gripped by a gripping member at the time of dehydration sintering or drawing of an optical fiber base material to a dummy bar which supports the optical fiber base material. CONSTITUTION:This structure is constituted by connecting and holding the 1st dummy bar 21 and the 2nd dummy bar 22 to each other by means of two pins 26a, 26b intersecting with each other by using a connecting cylinder 23. Only the connecting cylinder is exchangeable even if a fitting part is deteriorated after long-term use. The cost is lower than that in the case of exchanging of the entire part of the dummy bars heretofore.
