<p>PURPOSE:To increase the opening rate of liquid crystal elements of a transmission type and reflection type by providing 2nd picture element electrodes on an insulating film covering scanning electrodes, signal electrodes, switching elements and picture element electrodes in the state that these picture element electrodes are held insulated from the rest. CONSTITUTION:The insulating film 10 is formed over the entire surface of a glass substrate 1 so as to cover the entire part of the scanning electrodes 2, the signal electrodes 3, the switching elements 4 and the picture element electrodes 6 and is formed of various kinds of insulating materials, such as silicon nitride-(SiN). The 2nd picture element electrodes 9 are provided on the insulating film 10. The 2nd picture element electrodes 9 are so formed as to completely cover the picture element electrodes (1st picture element electrodes) 6 and further to cover a part of the switching elements 4 connected to the 1st picture element electrodes 6 and a part of the scanning electrodes 2 and signal electrodes 3 enclosing the 1st picture element electrodes 6 and are provided in the state that these electrodes are held insulated from the rest. Namely, these electrodes are provided in the independent state which are not electrically connected to the scanning electrodes 2, the signal electrodes 3, the switching elements 4, the 1st picture element electrodes 6, etc.</p> |
