PURPOSE:To improve the recording characteristic and the deletion characteristic of the optical disk by thermally equalizing the temperature change in the optical disk due to the laser iradiation at the time of recording even when the linear velocity is different. CONSTITUTION:The linear velocity of the optical disk recording data is detected. The temperature change in the optical disk due to the laser iradiation at the time of recording is completely matched even when the linear velocity is different by setting the recording pulse width from -1st power to 0th power, preferably from -1/1.5th power to -1/4th power of the linear velocity ratio times. Thus, the recording is performed under the best condition for the optical disk and the power range of the laser providing the ample recording characteristic and deletion characteristic.
