PURPOSE:To provide a discharge lamp lighting device with which periods from charging a power supply till respective discharge lamps being lighted are almost similar, and with which uncomfortableness about the lighting of the discharge can be eliminated. CONSTITUTION:Each lighting circuit part 31... has a lighting detection part 7 for detecting lighting of a discharge lamp 1 based on a voltage of the discharge lamp 1. The lighting detection part 7 generates a lighting detection output A1... when the voltage of the discharge lamp 1 becomes a specified value or less. A control part 4 takes the lighting detection output of another lighting circuit part 1 through a NOR gate N1, and quickly increases an inversion input voltage of a comparator 5 when the discharge lamp 1 of the lighting circuit part is lighted. When the inversion input voltage is increased, the comparator 5 controls to reduce a generation frequency of an inverter circuit 2 by the output. As a result, the oscillation frequency of the inverter circuit 2 approaches the oscillation frequency of a series resonance circuit of a current limiting choke L and a capacitor C1, thereby the high frequency voltage applied to the discharge lamp 1 is increased to light the lamp speedily. |
