The protection device is used with fluid jets that are under high or very high pressure. The device comprises several superimposed layers (60 to 64) of which one (60) at least is made up of granular material assuring the braking and the dispersion of fluid jet (16). The device also comprises a safety part disposed in one (63) of the layers of the device and destined to signal the perforation by the fluid jet (16) of the immediately lower layer. USE/ADVANTAGE - High pressure devices e.g. cutting out buried pipes. Protects operators.
