PURPOSE:To form a positive image both from negative and positive originals without lowering image quality with the simple structure. CONSTITUTION:A positive process cartridge 13 in which a positive photosensitive member 15 is incorporated and a negative process cartridge in which a negative photosensitive member is incorporated are selectively and removably attached to a device body. The selection is made based on whether an original is a positive image or a negative image. For the two types of photosensitive members, one type of a toner is used for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member. By this, change of image forming conditions required when two types of toners are used is made unnecessary and equipment or mechanisms for change can be omitted. The process cartridge is distinguished by a cartridge distinguishing means and a cartridge detecting means 40, and a control device 90 control each image forming process based on the detection results. |
