PURPOSE:To establish an inspecting method for a sealed type lead acid battery, with which such a failure as internal shortcircuiting or defect in air-tightness can be found certainly in a short time by sensing the open circuit voltage. CONSTITUTION:A sealed type lead acid battery whose amount of electrolytic solution is restricted so that no discrete electrolytic solution exists, is subjected to initial charging or an electrode plate chemical formation within a battery jar and is left in the discharged condition where the temp. of the electrolytic solution is 20 deg.C and its specific gravity ranges 1.02-1.20, and then the open circuit voltage is inspected and eventual failure is known from the distribution of the obtained values from inspection. These procedures permit defining the open circuit voltage difference between a normal battery and failed battery to lead to facilitation of sensing a failure in battery. |
