PURPOSE:To eliminate an excessive load in outline font use when a lowspeed computer is used by centralizing a character shape picture element generation processing stage which generate character shape picture elements from an outline font for plural sets of information equipment connected to a network. CONSTITUTION:On the network 4, a high-speed font generating means 2 consisting of a dedicated device is installed. This high-speed font generation device 2 generates the character shape picture elements by using outline font data held locally in itself or outline font data transferred from other computes in the network 4. A device (computer 1) which uses the outline font for a display, printing, etc., requests the font generation device 2 to acquire the font and uses character shape data sent from the font generation device 2 in response to the request. |
