This chuck is of the type including a tool-holder member (5), a flange coupling (faceplate coupling) (4) which can be secured to the tool holder member, a device (1) capable of being entrained in terms of rotation by the machine and of entraining, in terms of rotation, the said flange coupling (4). The entrainment device includes two coaxial components (2, 3) which are mounted secured in terms of rotation, are capable of moving axially one with respect to the other when the axial force between the tool and the entrainment member of the machine exceeds a predetermined threshold value and can be secured in terms of rotation. The chuck is characterised in that between the two components (2, 3) there are located means (50) for setting the threshold between the predetermined threshold value and an axial immobilisation of the components, these threshold-setting means being capable of being controlled from outside when the chuck is mounted on the machine. The invention can be used for drills with automatic feed. <IMAGE>
