AUTOMATIC ABRASION MEASURING SYSTEM FOR SLIDER IN PANTOGRAPH

PURPOSE:To provide an automatic noncontact measuring system for optically measuring abrasion of the slider in pantograph when a vehicle moves within a tram depot. CONSTITUTION:The automatic abrasion measuring system comprises a pantograph detector for detecting a pantograph based on blockage of detecting light projected onto the pantograph 1 of a vehicle 2, and a slider photographying unit comprising projectors 71a, 72a disposed in front and rear of the pantograph detector, while corresponding to two sliders fixed to the shoe of the pantograph, in order to irradiate the side faces of the pantograph with light beams L obliquely from above at an appropriate angle and units 71b, 72b for receiving the images of the side faces disposed obliquely below a light beam R reflected on the side face. The system further comprises a signal processing section 8 for opening the shutter of each image receiving unit based on a detection signal fed from the pantograph detector to receive the images of the side faces of two sliders and calculating abrasion for each of two sliders based on the image receiving signal.
