PURPOSE:To record data on a recording medium without increasing the data compression quantity by recording the data on the recording medium at a variable speed corresponding to the amount of the image data to be recorded and the number of images to be recorded. CONSTITUTION:A data amount calculating means 30 calculates the amount of data to be sent as image data of one frame from input data and selects a once speed or twice speed as the rotating speed of a disk for recording and reproduction so as to generate an animation consisting of a constant number of frames. Selection information on the determined rotating speed is supplied to a CD-ROM encoder 31 and recorded as part of identification information ID on the disk. The selection information on the determined rotating speed is further supplied to the driving system for the CD-ROM disk, which is driven at the determined rotating speed by controlling a motor. Namely, the image is hierarchically divided into small areas in one-frame units and the image data of the respective layers are quantized into vectors. |
