The invention relates to a sprinkling device, of the kind comprising, in a casing (1) having a vertical axis, a rotor (2) driven in rotation by a turbine which the sprinkling water causes to rotate, as well as means for reversing the direction of rotation of the said rotor (2), the latter being extended upwards by a bell fitted with a sprinkling nozzle. This device is essentially characterised in that the said means for reversing the direction of rotation of the said rotor (2) comprise a gearwheel (23) which meshes permanently with a crown gear (24) arranged on the internal perimeter of the said rotor (2) and the spindle (22) of which is mounted on means (20) enabling it to mesh with one or other of the two driving gearwheels (19a, 19b) which rotate in opposite directions with respect to each other.
