Device for generating an audio signal to be synchronised with at least one device for generating an optical signal. The two devices being activated by one and the same means, namely a pedestrian call push button, the activation of the figurines authorising and prohibiting crossing being immediate, while the emitting of the audio messages authorising and preventing crossing takes place only when the action on the pedestrian call push button is maintained for a certain time. The device for generating an audio signal is driven by a microcontroller including logic and analog inputs, the messages emitted can have their parameters set and are stored according to the ADPCM method. <IMAGE>
