<p>Noncapsulated mutants of normally encapsulated bacteria in which the capsule is required for virulence are useful as vaccines for disease states caused by the normally encapsulated bacteria. In particular, noncapsulated mutants of A. pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella haemolytica, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, are useful in protecting against swine pleuropneumonia, bovine pneumonia, and human cystic fibrosis, respectively.</p> |
