<p>A piperidine derivative represented by general formula (I), a salt thereof, and antihistaminic and antiallergic agents containing the same as the active ingredient. In formula (I) R represents hydrogen or halogen; A represents phenyl or pyridinyl; B represents hydroxy, lower alkoxy or (II); X represents hydroxy and Y represents hydrogen, or alternatively X and Y are directly combined with each other to form a double bond between the carbon atoms to which they are respectively bonded; and m is an integer of 2 to 6. This compound has a potent antihistaminic activity and a high safety, so that it is useful as a medicine for various diseases, such as an antiinflammatory, a remedy for nephritis, hepatitis, pancreatitis, etc., a remedy for preventing and/or treating respiratory system diseases, and an antiasthmatic.</p> |
