The winder for thread on to a spool, consists of a machine frame which supports at least one core holder (5,6) for holding at least one core (B) on which spools (P) of thread are wound. The machine frame (2) supports a second frame (10) which has a moving part (10a) which carries a roller (11) and to which a dynamic vibration absorber is attached. The vibration absorber damps out resonant frequencies of the device and enables the device to be operated over a wide range of rotational speed without being affected by vibration.
