The gasket (G) comprises two bead layers (3, 4) and two intermediate layers (6, 8) and has at least one hole (A) therethrough. Around each hole (A), one intermediate layer (6) has a raised strip (7) and the other intermediate layer (8) has an inwardly folded strip (11). The two strips (7, 11) increase the thickness of the gasket around the hole (A) and ensure that the gasket, when clamped in use, provides a good seal. Because the strip (11) is inwardly folded, there is no seam exposed to the hole and hence the gasket is less likely to leak. Also, because the strip (11) is formed by folding, it is easier and cheaper to manufacture the gasket. <IMAGE>
