<p>A cutting insert for chipforming machining of metal workpieces is disclosed, said insert comprising opposed top and bottom surfaces and a peripheral wall (11) extending therebetween. The insert has cutting edges (13) at the juncture between at least the top surface and said peripheral wall, a land area (12) and a chip breaker groove located along the edges (13) starting from the top inner margin of said land (12). The chip breaker groove consists of a plurality of concave depressions (14 a, 14 b) and the cutting edge is straight at the corner regions whereas the cutting edge (13) is waveshaped in the intermediate areas at the intersection between the intermediate depressions (14 b) and the peripheral wall (11).</p> |
