In a facsimile system having a server device (10) connected to a local-area network system (1), to which a plurality of client terminals (2,3) are connected and connected also to an ISDN (4) and a public switched telephone network (7), the server device performs communication with the PSTN (7) and the plurality of client terminals, performs communication with the ISDN and the plurality of client terminals, and changes over communication between the ISDN and the PSTN in accordance with a command from each of the plurality of client terminals.
