The aerial has a number of telescopic sections with a terminal fitting (11) attached to the outermost section (10) exhibiting a sprung bead (13) projecting outwards to fit into a locating recess provided by an insulation sleeve (15), for securing the aerial in position. Pref. the recess has a locking nose (14) at the rear of the bead (13), the insulation sleeve (15) having peripherally spaced axial slots near the locking nose (14) with a length which is less than 3 times the dia. of the sleeve (15). ADVANTAGE - Reliable fixing of aerial accommodating mfg. tolerances with low amt. of play and min. effects from tolerance variations.
