A vehicle control such as a steering wheel (10) is equipped with a number of sensors (36,38) for sensing physiological variations in the human vehicle operator which sensors are coupled (32,34,20,21) to a master unit (not shown). A rise in the anxiety level of the human operator, which may be due to an impending manoeuvre, is detected by the master unit by means of, for example, a rise in skin conductivity, and a signal is provided to other in-vehicle equipment. This signal may be used to delay the provision of non-critical information to the operator. Such information may include navigational data, fuel consumption details or the ringing of a car-telephone.

|
