Known ventilating devices have an adsorption filter (1) in communication with the atmosphere through a ventilating pipe (46) controlled by a stop valve (51). Control errors may unintentionally keep closed the tank ventilation valve (3) and stop valve, so that overpressure builds up in the fuel tank (2), in the pipes (8, 16) and in the adsorption filter, thus leading to their destruction. By appropriately designing the magnetic circuit (54) of the stop valve (51, 51') the pressure generated above a predetermined overpressure in the adsorption filter (1) is sufficient to open the stop valve (51, 51') and thus to relieve pressure before damages are caused. This new ventilating device is particularly useful for internal combustion engines in motor vehicles.
