The converter has a main switch (I2) connected to an input terminal (A) and a free end of primary windings (E1, E2) of transformers (T1, T2), and a secondary switch (I1) connected to the main switch. An output circuit has secondary windings (S1, S2) respectively forming current rectifier circuits with rectifier diodes (D1, D2) to provide continuous current in a load (R). Voltages appearing in one direction at terminals of the windings (S1, S2) place the diodes in conducting and blocked states, respectively. A control unit controls open and closed states of the switches at chopping frequency.
