<p>PURPOSE: To develop an aluminum holding and scouring vessel for protecting a graphite block containing heating elements against oxidation and protecting the heating elements against chloride corrosion without using any metallic heater can. CONSTITUTION: A heating element assembly is set in the opening 6 of a graphite block 2 arranged on the inner surface of a shell 1 and the heater arrangement comprises a support means 9 fixed to the shell, a heating element assembly fixing plate 22 being sealed to the support means, and electric lead wires 23, 24 connected with the heating part 18 of the heating element assembly through an insulating part 19 and passing through a hole of the heating element assembly fixing plate. The heater arrangement further comprises a sealing means 25 for preventing intrusion of air through the gap between the hole and the electric lead wires, and a fire resistant sheet 11 for protection against oxygen from the inner space of a vessel. Oxidation of the graphite block and corrosion of the heating element are suppressed through combinational action of the air and the chloride vapor. A grommet and a vertical collar structure can be employed as the sealing means.</p> |
