PURPOSE:To serve both as an exhaust purifying catalyst and a silencing muffler by securing a porous shaped-catalyst support to an internal wall surface of an exhaust gas passage. CONSTITUTION:A muffler case 11 comprising a main unit case 5 and a cover case 9 provided with an exhaust port 7 is secured to an exhaust port 1 of an engine by bolts 13. In a catalyst support 23, a fiber formed of stainless steel sintered with a platinum catalyst is molded in a cloth shape. Exhaust gas is advanced into the main unit case 5 from the exhaust port 1, passing through a communication hole 15 of a partitioning plate 17 to enter in the cover case 9, and emitted via a silencing trough 19 and the exhaust port 7. By expansion and contraction during this time, an exhaust noise is damped to make harmless the harmful carbon monoxide or the like by the catalyst support 23. |
