PURPOSE:To attain rational and compact arrangement of a scavenging pump in an outboard motor. CONSTITUTION:A two-cycle engine for an outboard motor is constituted such that a crankshaft is arranged almost vertically and also arranging a cylinder 18 of reciprocating a piston 22, connected to the crankshaft, toward the rearward relating to an advancing direction and, on the other hand, providing a scavenging pump 34 driven by the crankshaft to scavenge new air to a combustion chamber 28 through scavenging ports 44, 46 opened to the cylinder 18. The scavenging pump is arranged parallelly almost in front of the crankshaft. Accordingly, the scavenging pump can be arranged adjacent to the crankshaft. Protruding upward according to arranging the scavenging pump is decreased, and also protruding sideward of the crankshaft is decreased. Accordingly, it is convenient to perform 2-motor linking or the like by providing a narrow engine width without increasing height of the engine, to attain rational and compact arrangement for the outboard motor. |
