FILTER REGENERATING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To improve a regeneration rate of particulates by providing a microwave generating means for generating a microwave fed to a heating chamber, blower fan for supplying gas except exhaust gas to the heating chamber and a motor for rotating the blower fan. CONSTITUTION:A heating chamber 17 is provided in an exhaust pipe 16 for discharging exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine. A filter 18 is stored in the heating chamber 17 to collect particulates contained in the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine. A microwave fed to the heating chamber 17 is generated by a microwave generating means 19. A blower fan 22 for supplying gas except exhaust gas to the heating chamber 17 is provided. A motor 21 for rotating the blower fan 22 is provided. A blow amount of air is increased from the beginning of a regenerating period of the particulate to the latter half of regeneration, to heat the filter 18 regenerated. By this constitution, since air is sufficiently supplied to an unburned part in a condition to partly burn the particulate, a regeneration rate is improved.
