PURPOSE:To detect sensor abnormality in the range of the output value from a position sensor while it is normal and improve reliability of control of an automatic transmission. CONSTITUTION:In such controlling an automatic transmission that a range switch valve is switched by the actuation of an actuator while always monitoring the valve position of the range switch valve by means of a position sensor, the valve position detected based on the output value of the position sensor and the valve position estimated based on the operation direction and operation amount of the actuator and the last output value of the position sensor are compared with each other, and if the detected valve position is out of the permissible range of the estimated valve position, whether or not the actuator is normal is judged. If the actuator is judged to be normal, the position sensor is judged to b normal. |
