PURPOSE:To reduct the cost of manufacture by coating the outer wall of a fluorescent display tube with a transparent dielectric substance film for simplifying the maintenance of high vacuum. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent display tube is fabricated of the positive electrode base plate 1, the front face cover container 2, the positive electrode wiring 3, the positive electrode 5, the filament 8, the grid electrode 9, etc. The fluorescent display tube so fabricated is evacuated through an evacuating tube, decomposed its filament, and then sealed up. Then, the outer wall of the fluorescent display tube so sealed up is covered with an SiO2 transparent film by a high-frequency-excited ion plating method. |
