<p>PURPOSE:To easily and efficiently obtain a molten metal having a target compsn. with high heating efficiency and tapping efficiency by eliminating the drawbacks of induction skull melting of Ti or Ti alloy by using the conventional water-cooled copper crucible. CONSTITUTION:The Ti or Ti alloy is melted by using the water-cooled copper crucible 10, the bottom plate 12 of which is constituted of Ti or a metal forming a total solid soln. with the Ti and, thereafter, a part of this bottom plate 12 is melted to form an aperture 12A. The molten metal is tapped from this aperture 12A. Since the bottom plate is not cooled with water, the heating efficiency is high and superheating is possible. The formation of the skull extremely locally near the bottom plate is averted and the molten metal having the target compsn. is easily obtd. The aperture is formed by melting a part of the bottom plate and the molten metal is tapped from this aperture and, therefore, the efficient tapping is possible. The fall of the temp. of the molten metal at the time of the tapping does not arise either.</p> |
