The invention relates to power supply devices including a hyporesonant converter with four switches assembled in pairs and two resonant circuits connected to a primary winding of a transformer. The invention resides in the fact that the device comprises a control circuit which is devised in such a way as to cause currents (I"1, I"2) to flow in the primary winding in opposite directions over all or part of the duration of the alternating pulses in such a way as to obtain, at the output of the rectifying and filtering means, a quantity of electricity (Q') per pulse which can vary from a zero value to a maximum value. The invention is applicable to the high-voltage power supply for X-ray tubes. <IMAGE>
